Embassy Hosts Candle Vigil and Prayer Ceremony

On August 16th, the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, DC hosted a candle vigil and prayer ceremony in memory of Sar-e-Pul Province martyrs and victims of recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan. Charge d’Affairs Sayed Zafar Hashemi, alongside the Afghan diaspora community, condemned the cowardly terror attacks. He said:

“We are gathered tonight to remember and mourn loss of those innocent souls perished as a result of indiscriminate violence brought on our people by terrorist groups of criminal networks with no regard for human life. Whether its civilians in Sar-e-Pul, children in Achin or soldiers praying inside a mosque in Balkh, terrorists continue to target us but we are not going to give in; we will stay united, strong and determined until we turn Afghanistan into a graveyard of terrorism.”
