High School Students Get Glimpse of Afghanistan

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, DC hosted high school students and teachers from Texas and California as part of an ongoing partnership with CloseUp DC. CloseUp partners with educators, schools, and other organizations throughout the United States to help develop informed students, engaging over 850,000 participants since 1971. 

Cultural Attaché Majeed Qarar spoke to students about Afghan cultural, specifically sports, art, and literature; the political situation in Afghanistan; and the international fight against terrorism. Mr. Qarar told students of the importance of programs like CloseUp DC, as they foster long-term partnerships and deep awareness of Afghan and American cultures. He also expressed the value in maintaining partnerships with academic institutions across the United States.
