Statement of Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, Afghanistan’s National Security Advisor to HE President Ghani and former Ambassador to the United States

HE President Ashraf Ghani appointed Dr. Hamdullah Mohib as the new National Security Advisor. Dr. Mohib was appointed as the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Washington, DC in September 2015 and served as a non-resident Ambassador to Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Mexico. One of Dr. Mohib’s priorities was to reconceptualize Afghanistan’s narrative in the United States to better reflect the realities of the country, one that is moving towards prosperity and peace. During his tenure, he worked tirelessly to strengthen the Afghan-US bilateral relationship, engage with the Afghan diaspora and veterans serving in Afghanistan, and implement a comprehensive cultural and public diplomacy initiative within US schools, universities, and local organizations.
