Ambassador Mohib Meets with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

On August 1, Ambassador Hamdullah Mohib met with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan as it relates to the review of Afghan policy by the Trump administration.

Ambassador Mohib highlighted the mutual interests and common threats that bring Afghanistan and the United States together as foundational partners. He emphasized the strategic documents signed between Afghanistan and the United States as the basis of the modern relationship between the two countries.

Sen. McConnell reiterated his support for American engagement and presence in Afghanistan as the country fights the Taliban and other extremist groups that threat regional and global security.
