On May 15th, the Afghan Embassy joined with the Alliance for New Music- Theatre in its collaboration with Afghan Artists. Ambassador Mohib gave opening remarks to the event and acknowledged how the beautiful Afghan culture has survived years of war. The evening event showcased traditional Afghan music and poetry readings that expressed messages of empowerment to women in Afghanistan, as a part of the Alliance’s “Women of Troy/ Voices from Afghanistan” production. Speakers emphasized the “colorful” and strong side of Afghan women; one that goes beyond their image in the media by elaborating on their role as mothers, professionals, leaders and more.
